i've been unleasing the layout momentum! lots of new pages...so much fun. i decided to make the pics into quads so i don't take up too much space here with a bunch of seperate photos! i am proud to say that i am addicted to scrapbooking (and not just collecting)! ;) yay for using my newly organized stash!!!!

it's been a while since i've posted...life got a little ahead of me. not sure what to say so i will share some adorable photos of my kitty-love for now. =)

finding nemo

i am nothing short of obsessed with our fishies! they all have names (we have about 20) which include the blue man group, mallory, jar jar benks, beauty, powell, box, camo, ty, luke, braveheart, yin & yang, tangerine, daf & dil, froto, voldemort, lucky, dumb & dumber, and, featured here, the dude (you know, from the big lebowski)!! =) they are quick swimmers but i'd like to get mug shots of each of them...i will keep trying. the are sooooo fun to watch!

making progress

on the quilt that is. hmmn, if i directed the level of attention and enthusiasm i have for making progress on this quilt to addressing the world's problems, then the title of this post would be more appropriate... ok, too heavy for a sunday morning. and there are little ways i try to make progress... anyways, here is a visual update on the quilt =) top is done, just need to do back and insides...then put the whole thing together. i can't wait! so fun =)

bursting at the seams!

actually, the opposite- i am sewing the seams and creating a patchwork quilt to greet 2008! it has been soooo much fun to create this (my first) quilt! full of bright colors, a mish-mash of patterns and fabric pieces in all directions...i'm just bursting at the seams with enthusiasm and a sense of accomplishment. =)
and now the ideas are flowing...so many possibilities for combining this art form with the other wonderful art forms i love... maybe special mini quilted bags for packaging the glass pieces...or quilted fabric scrapbook paper...or photo quilts...or...or...OR?!?!?! i've just finished the inner layout and border...next step is sewing on the final outer border and it will be complete!

winter

it has been a long while since i've posted... i have been traveling to, from, to again, through, north, south and central california. active in many ways and hibernating in others. it is winter time. i love the colder weather, the holiday vibe, the hot coffees and teas, the family time, the comfort foods, and california. i've missed this ocean and this family! to my new arizona friends and classes and stores i've been somewhat m.i.a. being that i've been on the road for quite some time. just as i was getting into the groove and busy with classes and art and business, some changes happened at home that seemed to uproot the new roots i was quickly planting! off to california for visiting, the holidays, some reflection, and good family time... and here we are...the end of 2007. i am not sure what 2008 will bring...there are many possibilities. i must say that i fell in love with california all over again...especially the central coast where my family gathered for the holidays. specifically, los osos, just a tad south from morro bay and a tad west from san louis obispo. such an amazing place!
these photos are from my santa rosa adventure (visiting my beloved grandparents) including armstrong woods and a special art open house i held, as well as the morro bay/los osos holiday event. trees, beaches, love, family, wind, rock, earth, art, smiles, reflection, peace, comfort, sadness, confusion, goodbyes, and more reflection.

yay for my cute kitty! i am back in cali teaching at an artist retreat with carol wingert, melody langworthy and janelle smith at my daughter's wish! we are having lots of fun and are happily creating artwork! i am also so happy to be reunited with my kitty cat!

Yay Saturday!

today was a long one, but it was a blast! taught at devine memories this morning and mystic paper in the afternoon. had such a good time with everyone and was thrilled to be sharing "magical" projects all day long ("fairy tales" and "book of spells")! i even got to bring my wand to the second class =) hee hee. thank you to all of you fabulous gals that bought some glass today too...so exciting! hope to see more and more familiar faces in classes...i just love getting to know everyone and being able to share our love of paper arts together =)

this was a fun process piece i did to combat the tears that so easily fall from my eyes. yes, i'm a sensitive, emotional, intense cry baby!! i think this is my favorite layout right now though...true to me and made with old product, new product, scraps, and whatever i felt like using! boo hoo!!

Glass Complete!

here are the results of my fun glass day spent with tara from combustion glassworks! i totally love my first batch of glass pieces...can't wait to create art with them! so many fun colors, shapes, sparkles and textures. they remind me so much of tropical reef fish...that or candy!

Yay! I've been working on savagestudioproduction's (SSP) new website and it is almost ready to launch! Can't wait to set everything in motion...for real! Still toying with the manufacturing/product line ideas. That will be out in February. In the meantime, look for kits, original art, handmade gifts and various cool stuff from SSP. Upcoming Class!

There is still room in my "Love Notes" class at Devine Memories on Saturday, Sept. 1st. This is a chunky funky mini book full of interactive pages with pockets, doors, tags and more. Using Cosmo Cricket's "Love Notes" collection and lots of ink and paint, we'll alter this Rusty Pickle 4x4 book with the beautiful colors of fall. Join me for a fun class!

Meet the Teacher

did a fun event today at devine memories =) four of us taught mini classes in which students made flashcard size projects reflecting our different artistic styles. here is my art card =) or art piece (peace) as it were...see the word art and the little peace sign at the bottom? =) it was a fun day and i think we all enjoyed ourselves!

my glass slipper

this is what i did today! worked with the artist of combustion glassworks today in her studio making an amazing array of fused glass pendants and pieces. these pics are the starting point in the process...the pieces have yet to be fired, but they look so beautiful even in their raw form. had to snap a few photos of their creation! today's work, the tiny cuts to prove it, the good company and the sick glass pieces i await from the kiln have put a big smile on my face =) i love learning new art forms...it is too fun to transpose color, design and techniques to another art genre. can't wait to get into it more!

the heat is on

i am watching a cricket (one of MANY that live with us in this house) scoot across the floor next to me. i am on my belly on the living room floor typing on the laptop. why you ask? couldn't tell you...but i can theorize. maybe it's because it's so hot here that i naturally gravitate (no pun intended) to the coolest spot in the house. lol. or i am just wierd. maybe both. so i am super excited about my new website and have been working on it a lot! it should be up and running in a few days! yay! went to the phoenix art museum last night with my friend, then we went to a bar where two women were performing awesome music. they were kinda like an indigo girls gig doing cover songs...guitars, tamborine and harmonyl. it was great =) tuesday nights have officially become the "girls night out." so much fun!!!

Crafty Clothing

so how cool is this?? i've been making these fun altered shirts using old clothes that need redefining and random scraps of fabric and buttons. move over nordstrom bp department. lol. it's so fun to spice up old shirts by cutting them up and recycling them into new crafty styles! who wants to spend $50+ on a "scrapbook" brand shirt when you can make your own?!

blog. hehe. well, it's official. i've claimed my spot in the world of blogs. this is exciting...now i just need to keep up with it! lol. actually, i am really looking forward to this cyber-journal/virtual brain. it is a place to share thoughts, feelings, artwork and the occasional witty post title. ;)
